Bajaj Auto plans to exit Pulsar 180 DTS-i
India’s second largest motorcycle manufacturer, Bajaj Auto is planning to stop the production of its Pulsar 180 DTS-i model. Although the news is not confirmed, but the company has identified a new technology and the style appeal that pulsar offers will be available in all Pulsars. This has given an indication that the Pulsar 180 might be removed altogether from the market.
This major decision by Bajaj has not yet confirmed but it seems that the decision will be undertaken by the company in order to enhance the sales of its recently launched Pulsar 200NS model. Sources informed that the most likely victim for the Pulsar 200NS will be the 180 DTS-i and hence Bajaj moves to the option of stopping the Pulsar 180 DTS-i. It’s hightime for the Pulsar 180 to give way for Pulsar 200NS.

There is news that the Pulsar 150 will also get colored in the new ‘Pulsarism’ but what remains to be seen is how Bajaj places its products now. With the Pulsar 135LS not expected to be really changed much, this bike will form the base of the Pulsar series at a price tag of around Rs. 60,000. Following the smallest sibling would be the refreshed Pulsar 150 (or possibly a slightly bigger engine!) which is still one of the highest selling Pulsars in the line-up. This would stand at somewhere around Rs. 70,000.
For now, as long as the Pulsar 220 DTS-i continues to be sold in the market, it would be sold unchanged at a price of around Rs. 85,000. This bike which would be continued for around 6 months more was once the fastest bike in the Indian market at the time of its launch. To follow these bikes will be the Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS which is expected to be introduced soon. A faired variant of this bike is also anticipated in the near future.
Also there are chances that the Avenger and the Cruiser would be sold without modifications till the Pulsar series gets a firm grip of the market again. Some of the questions that the company would now face are after the introduction of Pulsar 200 NS how long will the Pulsar 220 be continued. Further, why is Bajaj not using its F1 technology and will the bikes from pulsar be able to sustain in the market if sold for a price of Rs. 1 lakh
