2013 Santa Fe / ix45: Official Images, Brochure And Specs

Hyundai are all geared up for the world debut of the 2013 Santa Fe or the ix45 (for Europe) at the upcoming New York Auto Show. The SUV, although still a competitive product, doesn’t quite fit in with the Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy of the Korean carmaker. A visual overhaul was long overdue, and Hyundai have released some official images to clear the air on exactly how the 2013 version of the new SUV is going to look like. 2013 Santa Fe Hyundai had released a couple of renders earlier this week, but now it has sent out a bunch of real life pictures helping the new SUV exhibit its sharp lines better. To add some more spice to the story, the brochure for the new vehicle also seems to have leaked in Korean language. The pictures speak for themselves though, revealing the new tech which will feature on the next-gen Santa Fe. Among the most important new inclusions is the new BlueLink multimedia interface, which provides you an easy visual interface to control the vehicle, somewhat on the lines of the BMW iDrive, or Mercedes COMAND system. The BlueLink interface also allows smartphones to communicate with the vehicle’s entertainment hardware. Apart from that the new Santa Fe will also feature high end tech such as Automatic parking, a knee airbag, Lane Departure Warning System and LED lamps both up front and at the rear. Huge 19 inch wheels will lend the new Santa Fe some impressive street presence. The current generation Santa Fe is brought to India via the CKD route and is sold with a 2.2 liter turbo diesel mated to both manual and automatic transmission. The engine options on the 2013 model will include a 2.0-liter four cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 2.0 liter turbo diesel engine. The new petrol engine, expected to produce close to 278PS doesn’t have a very bright chance of making it to the diesel loving Indian market. The new 2.0 liter Gamma R diesel is expected to produce about 180 bhp of power and 392 Nm of torque. 2013 Santa Fe There is also the possibility of the 2.2 liter R-diesel making it onto the car. The engine is capable of producing in excess of 220bhp of power and 500 Nm of torque. Expect an India launch in early 2013.
